Kathy's Summer 2011 in Montreal
A great 7 weeks--painting, reading, taking in art, theater and music events, and meeting with friends...

I made good use of both the kitchen and the living room of the apartment I was subletting (from a young woman who is also a painter--thank you, Danika!). Lots of sunlight, good vibes, inspiration. I shared my progress through calls (phone or Sype) and email with my sweetheart José. Also checked in once a week with "coach Jan", who (re-)introduced me to the book The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, which has been a great guide for me this summer. I found homes for the two large pieces painted on cardboard shortly before leaving town: the screen titled Departure was traded to a Mcgill music student, and I donated the painting Heartflow to a restaurant /charitable organization called Robin des Bois(Robin Hood), right next-door to me. The smaller pieces came back to Tucson with me, and I'll be posting photos of them when they are finished! | José Carrillo |
