ABOUT Beltway Poetry Quarterly

Submissions
We are taking NO unsolicited submissions at this time.

Most issues of Beltway Poetry are curated by the editor or a guest editor, and are open by invitation only. The major exception to this rule is our annual theme issues, in which we announce a theme that reflects aspects of life in Washington, DC, and have an open call for poems on that theme. Past themes have covered politics, museums, the changing identity of inner-city neighborhoods, and issues celebrating the legacy of former DC writers Walt Whitman and Langston Hughes.

We announce open reading periods here. The next reading period will be in March 2012; stay tuned for a full call for entries.

Poetry News
Authors are invited to provide information about their readings, publications, and other activities for listing in the Poetry News section. Information should be submitted any time in the month prior to an event or publication to beltway.poetry@juno.com. Please note that listings of Readings and Performances only include events in the greater Washington DC area, although we cover a larger geographic region for listings of Competitions, Grants, Calls for Entries, Workshops, and Special Events (covering all of DC, MD, VA, WV, and DE).
